Our Story
National Community Based Organization Council (NCBOC) is a registered non-government, non-profit, non-political organization that started in 2005 and was incorporated in 2006. We are an assembly of grassroots organizations with over 57,000 registered member groups nationally. We build the capacity of grassroots organizations to enable them to become focus-based social-development units that effectively implement grassroots aspirations for self-reliance, social-economic development, and poverty reduction
To build the legal, administrative, social, and economic capacity of community-based organizations to become the key drivers of positive change at the grassroots level and to positively influence the economic, social, and legal development of the local community.
We envision transforming grassroots organizations into climate-conscious, wealth-creation engines that will propel the rural and urban slums community to achieve sustainable social-economic development, self-reliance, and education for sustainability.
NCBOC believes that grassroots organizations are the primary avenues of community development.
- As victims of poverty and disadvantage, community organizations are well placed to be primary wealth creators with immediate and direct impact on the community.
- As recipients and catalysts of community development, community organizations are unique because they respond to specific and tangible needs, have communal oversight, and are able to tap grassroots resources and local-level philanthropy for sustainable interventions.
- As members of their immediate community, community organizations have the in-built capacity to knit the society together at the grassroots, deepen democratic participation, and create a culture of transparency and accountability to the public
